Dream|a|Latte started as a personal blog to invite you into the adventures of three young adults aspiring to own a coffee shop. With no experience in the coffee industry, Ernest, Pop and Julia (myself) had a passion to open up a community-oriented shop where we live in Denver, Colorado. We had no idea where each step would lead, so proceeded to document this unreal journey on these pages. Fast forward a year and three-fourths, we opened up the doors of SONDER Coffee & Tea.
Although our lives are totally different than they were when we had begun, the adventure continues! The purpose of sharing all this with you remains the same:
1. To unravel a story for our future coffee shop and it’s community, and to invite our current community into the journey behind it– that they may take these steps with us, be part of our vision and dreams, and hold us accountable to it.
2. To inspire, encourage, and equip other dreamers or aspiring entrepreneurs interested in pursuing their own (coffee) business or the coffee industry through the resources and lessons we’re gaining along the way. This is not a “how to start a coffee shop” blog or should be used as consulting or expert advice. We just hope our learning from personal experience can be informative and transparent.
3. To cultivate living an inspired life that dares to step out in faith over fear, and not to settle for complacency.
Feel free to leave feedback, ideas, and resources throughout the site, as we can all learn from each other. Everyone’s story is different, and we simply want to invite you into ours. It’s all about daring to dream together and stepping into the unknown, knowing that life happens in the journey each step of the way. So join our adventure and “dream-a-latte” with us!

“It’s about serving coffee, but more so about serving people.
…but that’s our dream—to have a place, whether it’s a home or a coffee shop—to have as an open invite for everyone. A place people can come to escape the stresses of home or the office. A place they can get work done, treat themselves, spend some alone time reading their favorite book. A place where people can socialize, meet one another to create lasting relationships, to be heard. Above all, a place where people can feel welcomed, comfortable, accepted, and at home. We can’t wait to not just serve coffee, but to serve people.” –one of our early visionary posts
